Crochet Prayer Shawl Pattern – Fall Stripes Prayer Shawl

This beginner-friendly crochet prayer shawl pattern is a rectangular shawl design with subtle striping from two accent colors along one side. It is crocheted along the long side so that the accent stripes can run the length of the shawl, providing a unique look.

I love the subtle texture provided by the linen stitch (also called the moss stitch). You need to know how to single crochet and chain, and how to change colors at the end of a row. The stripes make for a perfect way to use up some of your yarn stash too.

Introducing the Fall Stripes Prayer Shawl

The inspiration for this design comes from my favorite season – Fall! No, I’m not a pumpkin spice latte girl, but I am a sucker for the leaves and football.

In Indiana, our leaves become the most beautiful colors, and I wanted to bottle all of that up in a cozy crochet shawl. Out came the Fall Stripes Prayer Shawl.

The stripes add a great punch of color, which is how the trees look as we drive to West Lafayette for Purdue football games come October.

About the Stitches

The texture created by this stitch combination gives the entire shawl a rustic look.

If you haven’t tried the linen stitch yet, I highly recommend it. It is a combination of single crochet and chain stitches. And, instead of crocheting into the top of a stitch, you crochet into the chain space.

I love crocheting into the chain space because it is so easy to see where to insert your hook. The linen stitch is one of those you can do practically in the dark, or while watching a movie.

This pattern is available in an ad-free, printable PDF on Etsy, Ravelry and LoveCrafts.

Hi Staci! The pattern should be available from whichever one of my shops you purchased it from. From Ravelry, check your library, or on Etsy it will be in your digital downloads area of your account. I hope that helps!
