Now that school is out, we’re excited to get to as many fun summer activities as we can! The kids are outside as much as they can handle and I’m getting back into my outdoor crochet time between playing catch and riding scooters.
I’ve loved working on the Heritage Table Runner in the last few months and I think it’s made me extra excited for July 4th festivities this year!
One of our favorite parts of summer is to celebrate the 4th of July. As a kid, my family used to go to a riverfront cookout that would have good food, and live music, and we’d all run around until it got dark. We’d all pile onto a blanket and watch the fireworks that seemed practically right on top of us.
Around the time my husband and I got married, we started going to the fireworks in our city. While not the riverfront, we still found awesome viewing spots and once we had kids we have amped up our fireworks fun with glow sticks, catching lightning bugs, and popsicles.
One thing remains the same. As soon as the fireworks start, we snuggle together in blankets and chairs and enjoy the fireworks together. And afterward, no one even complains about the traffic on the short drive home (probably because they are busy spotting other neighborhood shows out their window).
So if you want to get ready for fireworks and festivities, I’ve pulled together a bunch of red, white, and blue crochet patterns so you can pick your favorites and start a new project (or two)!
