The weather is turning here in Indiana, the leaves are getting ready to show off, and I find myself reaching for an extra layer each time I leave the house. If you love to be cozy like me, a crochet shawl pattern is one of my favorite ways to create my own layers. You can choose the colors you want and create that handmade wardrobe you love.
The drape that this shawl has is so flowy and squishy that you just can’t get that out of the heavier yarns. Now I know what all the garment designers love using it! If you’re on the fence about fingering weight yarn, I think you should definitely give it a try.

Introducing the Diamond Cutout Crochet Shawl Pattern
Have you ever tried to crochet with fingering weight yarn? This is my first time and I am thrilled with how it turned out. I’d been dreaming about this design for a a months trying to perfect it in my mind and am so excited that it turned out just the way I had envisioned.
I picked up some Cascade Heritage yarn at my local yarn store and while I was nervous to work with such small yarn, I was surprised that it didn’t feel that small while actually crocheting. And even using a tiny hook wasn’t too different.
Because it requires some attention to detail to get the skipped stitches and puff stitches in the right spots, I consider this an intermediate level pattern. If you are an adventurous beginner and ready to try reading charts or comfortable with skipped stitches, then go for it!
