Do you love making things with blanket yarn? One of my favorite things to make with blanket yarn is crochet blankets for baby shower gifts. I love how I can quickly make a blanket in just a few hours and the results are always the hit of the party.
Most people, especially parents, can appreciate how much love goes into something handmade. And with this blanket, you will have given a piece of your heart that will stay with the recipient forever. They’ll snuggle with it, drag it around the house, use it for their stuffed animals, and have it nearby well beyond those baby years.

Introducing the Tiny Triangles Crochet Blanket
If you’ve been following me for a few years, you may have noticed a consistent theme with my blanket yarn patterns. They:
- Require only 3 big skeins of blanket yarn
- Use double crochet stitches
- Can be made over a weekend
While there’s certainly no reason you can’t make your blankets more colorful, using three skeins is pretty good for your wallet. I stock up at Joann’s when they have sales and can usually get all of the materials for under $25. Depending on my budget, I can usually pick up some more items from the gift registry to go with it.
Blanket yarn can be a little tricky to see all the parts of your stitch, so I like to use double crochet stitches and jazz up the combination to make the blanket unique. Plus, crocheters of all skill levels should be able to make a gift that is loved for years and years.
And, let’s face it, babies sometimes choose to arrive when least expected, or maybe you have to wait until delivery to learn the gender and choose your colors. Don’t worry, you can make this crochet blanket before the parents bring baby home from the hospital!
