Introducing the Lisa Blanket – an Easy Weekend Crochet Baby Blanket
I’ve named this blanket after my mom, Lisa, because she is the original designer of this crochet baby blanket pattern. I may have figured out how to scale this pattern for larger sizes, but she deserves all the credit for this blanket.
My mom first introduced this blanket when she gifted it to me at a baby shower for my oldest, more than 7 years ago. It was her first grandkid, I had almost forgotten she knew how to crochet, so this was a complete surprise gift to me. Thank you, Mom!
Since then, as my sister had kids and I had more of my own, the surprise part of the blanket has disappeared, but they are one of the gifts I looked forward to for each kid! My kids truly cherish these, which makes them even more special.
You can use any super bulky yarn for this blanket pattern, but Bernat Blanket or Bernat Baby Blanket yarn is truly the best. As a mom, I love that the blankets are machine washable and dryable. My oldest (now 7.5 years old) uses his blanket daily, it’s been through the wash plenty of times, and his blanket looks just as good as it did when he was a baby.
Kids will absolutely love how cozy and warm the blankets are. There are colors for everyone, so pick out your person’s favorite or match their nursery colors or room decor. The possibilities are endless!

6.5 crochet hook small to use with Bernat blanket??
I usually use 8 mm or bigger??
Jamie Morris says
Hi Nancy – apologies for the late reply to this! Since we all have different tension when we crochet, the 6.5mm hook is what I used to get a tighter stitch than what I would get when I use something larger. You can absolutely use a larger hook size if you want! You can use the gauge listed to see how that might affect the finished size.

I needed something quick and easy while stuck in hospital with COVID. This is perfect as I’m just learning to crochet.
