If you’re looking for a set of beginner-friendly crochet patterns that you can whip up quickly for holiday gifts or as a stylish look to your winter wardrobe, the Loops Collection is perfect for you.

I really love crochet patterns that I can use for both myself and as gifts for my family and friends. As a mom to four little kids, they see me with my yarn and often ask me to make one for them. I bet you have that in your life too!

These three patterns are going to be a hit this holiday season and you can customize them for each of your gift recipients. Bold and bright colors for one, classic neutrals for another, and variegated for another…all doable with the Loops Collection, and everyone will have a smile on their face (including you!).

Meet the Loops Collection of Beginner Crochet Accessories

Gather up some Lion Brand Wool-Ease or your favorite worsted weight yarn in everyone’s favorite colors. I named these patterns the Loops Collection because they all use half double crochet stitches in various combinations of front loop only and back loop only stitches.

As I mentioned earlier, these are very beginner-friendly crochet patterns, so if you’re just getting started with crochet, you can absolutely master these patterns. You can check out this alternate half double crochet tutorial to practice the stitches before jumping into the patterns.

The Loops Collection patterns have written instructions available here on the blog, or you can purchase the premium PDF individually. You can also get the eBook with all 3 patterns from my Etsy and Ravelry shops for a deep discount.

Let’s take a look at each pattern.

Loops Hat

The Loops Hat is worked from the bottom-up, so you will make the brim first. The main body is then worked in the round using the alternate half double crochet stitch. There are four sizes from child to adult, but also instructions for customizing the size. The texture of this hat can work for both men and women. You could even add a cute pom to the top if you like!

Loops Ear Warmer

The Loops Ear Warmer or headband is perfect for keeping ears toasty warm on a chilly fall day. The construction is similar to the hat with the center of the headband made first. Then the trim is added, so you can make both solid or multi-color versions to suit your recipients. This would be perfect for those sporting events like football and soccer games in school colors.

Loops Cowl

Once you figure out which headwear you want to make, add the coordinating Loops Cowl for a beautiful gift set. This cowl is roomy and not too tight, so it will keep your neck warm without feeling restrictive. It’s worked flat, in rows, for the main body and then seamed together before working the trim in the round. The size is easy to adjust if you want yours bigger or smaller too.
