Easter is just around the corner! If you haven’t started already, I have asked my designer pals for help in putting together this long list of Easter crochet patterns so you can make something for yourself and your loved ones this year. These talented designers have created some beautiful Easter-themed crochet patterns for home decor, baskets, a variety of beautiful eggs, crosses, accessories, and more!

Supplies Needed for Easter Crochet Patterns

Easter crochet patterns often include a few extra notions and supplies than you might use on a regular basis.

  • Yarn
  • Crochet hook
  • Other notions such as stuffing, buttons or safety eyes

You can find most items at your local craft store or online. I find Easter patterns are also great users of scrap yarn or small bits of yarn in multiple colors, so be sure to shop your own yarn stash first!

Common Techniques Used in Easter Crochet Patterns

There are a wide variety of crochet stitches and techniques used to when crocheting Easter patterns. Read through your pattern and look for photo or video tutorials on any that you might not know.

  • Magic circle or magic ring
  • Basic crochet stitches such as single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet
  • Intermediate stitches such as the bobble stitch and puff stitch
  • Crocheting in the round
  • Changing colors in crochet, including changing colors while working in the round or in the middle of a row
  • Seaming two pieces together or sewing multiple parts together

Favorite Patterns to Crochet for Easter

When my oldest was a baby, one of the first projects I made for him was Emma the Bunny from my Edward’s Menagerie book (or see the new book version) as an Easter gift. I then made the same bunny in a different color yarn for each of my kids. We pull them out every Easter and it’s fun to watch them play and snuggle with their bunnies.

Have you crocheted eggs yet or are you still using the plastic ones? There are a number of egg patterns below! The Easter Bunny still hides the plastic ones at my house for the kids to find, but I have my eye on making some more crochet eggs to use as vase and basket filler decor. Currently, the kids pretend they are the Easter Bunny and hide eggs for one another. But after a while, it turns into an egg-throwing contest. At least there isn’t a mess!

Another great project to make this time of year that is perfect for all ages is a pocket prayer square. These are great for little hands (and quiet!) not to mention you can make one in about 15-minutes. Also, if you are involved in First Reconciliation or First Communion at your church, these would make great gifts to each of the kids.

Tips for Crocheting Easter Patterns

My number one tip for successfully crocheting, not just Easter patterns, is to read through the pattern in its entirety before you get started. Ensure you understand all of the stitches and techniques that will be used. If there are some that are new to you, look to see if the designer included tutorials or go search the internet and YouTube for them.

It will save you a lot of time and heartache if you fully understand where the pattern is going to take you before you get there. You will be able to visualize the pattern coming to life as you read it, which will help eliminate the “is this how it’s supposed to look?” questions in the middle.

Additionally, if at all possible, ensure you have any additional notions on hand before you get started. Nothing like getting stuck halfway through a bunny because you need to stuff it before going to the next step. It’s not always the case, so be sure to make note of these things as you read through the pattern.
